Q: What is a Custom Couture Window Treatment?

A: Custom means it's not only made especially for your window--your decorator uses the principles of scale, balance, harmony, line and beauty to give a design statement to your windows. The chosen fabrics and trims are not only suitable in color and texture, they're gorgeous. Your treatment fits perfectly, is appropriate in scale and dimension, and complements your decor. Your draperies can be motorized and operated by remote control, too.

The couture aspect in design and construction means your window treatment drapes beautifully, has interlining to keep color perfect, and has hand-sewn dressmaking details to enhance the style. Your custom couture designed window fashions add richness, luxury, and a wonderful elegance to complete your gorgeous space.

Custom designed couture window treatments are not available from any big store or local seamstress.

Q: Is there a fee for coming to my home?

A: Yes. For a general design, color or space planning consultation, our fee is $125 per hour.

At this appointment we determine your wants, needs, and styles. Some helpful advice is given. This is a short-term service where a Decorating Doctor comes to your home for a few hours to give you suggestions and ideas for solving your design problems.

A second appointment is a follow-up to give detailed advice if you want to proceed on the project without further professional assistance.

If you decide to continue with our services, we deliver a shop-at-home presentation of appropriate fabrics, accessories, furniture selections, etc., along with making final decisions. A 60% down payment of the total project cost is required at the end of this appointment in order for selections to be processed.

Q: What is a consultation?

A: A consultation by a Decorating Doctors designer is a set amount of time the designer spends with a client to answer questions, give design advice and offer places for the client to shop. A consultation is generally for the client who needs direction before proceeding on. Sometimes the client decides to hire Decorating Doctors for some or all of the planned projects.

Q: Does Decorating Doctors charge for the first meeting?

A: Yes. This meeting is to ascertain your goals and for me to be able to prepare a custom design plan.

Q: How does Decorating Doctors charge for design services?

A: We charge a Fixed Fee. This means that when both the client and the designer have agreed on the project plans, the cost of each item and service, for example, by installers and fabricators, and design work time is figured as a whole. That is the charge to you and unless you change something in the process, there is no other fee.

Q: Is your work guaranteed?

A: Yes. Our work is guaranteed for one year. Once we have gone over the project at our first meeting and established what your goals are, we will enter the scope of work into the design agreement for your signature. The design agreement must be approved and the retainer fee (refundable at the end of the project) of $250 must be paid prior to the commencement of any design time.
